Desktop app telemetry
Pix42 sends one anonymous telemetry event per app session to help improve the product, understand platform usage, and detect crash patterns.
- What is sent An anonymous device identifier, session identifier, app version, operating system, OS language, screen-resolution category, session-duration bucket, crash flag or crash type, sanitized crash signature/context when available, and the number of viewed files grouped by format family such as JPEG, RAW, FITS, AVIF, video, or audio.
- What is not sent File names, folder paths, image contents, thumbnails, metadata values from your files, typed search queries, account information, and raw crash logs are not included in the telemetry payload. Crash context is reduced to sanitized stack/module hints and a hash used to group similar crashes.
- How the identifier works The app derives a pseudonymous device identifier locally and stores it on the machine so repeated sessions can be counted without asking for an account.
- Server-side handling The analytics endpoint uses the request IP address transiently for abuse prevention and rate limiting. The telemetry database stores the anonymous telemetry fields, not the request IP address itself.
- Retention Telemetry records are kept in the Pix42 analytics dataset until they are manually deleted, reset, or no longer needed for product analysis.
Website and download pages
When you visit the Pix42 website or download page, standard technical request data may be processed by the hosting environment to serve the page, secure the service, and troubleshoot abuse or failures.
This may include information such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamps. These logs are separate from the app telemetry described above.
